Cannot Install
From within XP Pro, when I launch VistaBootPro, I get an error message, that the bcd is either missing or corrupt, and have to hit ok over and over a few times before getting to the menu screen, The legacy entry must point to the ntldr and boot.ini and ntdetect.com must also be on the root of that partition.

Problem NTDLR is missing
Vista can't load from XP's bootloader (ntldr). What you must do at this point is run a startup repair from the Vista disk. Once you can get into Vista, you can use bcdedit to add an EDIT: I don't have Vista's DVD, and I'm trying to avoid installing XP again. If there's any way around...I would be gratefull!

Thanks Dean, I checked cable connections and retried with the same results, so I plugged the DVD into the second connector on the IDE cable. Now I get the message "NTLDR cannot be found". I know from winnt and 2000 that this is a boot file, and if it cannot be found on the Vista disc, where is it?
